The jobs list stays (but here’s what’s new)

Hello there 😎
First: the Monday jobs email isn’t going anywhere. It’s still helping people land remote jobs, and I’m happy to keep sending it.
But for me:
Writing and helping people land their next remote job was always a Trojan horse.
What’s always been more interesting, and more important, is sharing actionable ideas for ambitious people who want productive, healthy, wealthy families.
Remote work was always just one (powerful!) tool in the kit.
You can have the best of both worlds. You can have your Funfetti cake and eat it too.
You can build a meaningful career AND give the best version of yourself to your family.
But you have to be intentional about it, and disciplined about it. You have to be thoughtful about what you’re really optimizing for in the same 24 hours we all get. And thoughtful about the tools you use to build. Tools like:
A portfolio career
Using AI
A lot of young families I know, including my own, are stuck between two truths.
The first: we will never get this time back. This is a special time, and you have to recognize it while you’re in it, because once your kids leave the house, they’ve already spent most of the in-person time they’re ever going to spend with you. You’ve used it all up. You’re at the tail end. Treasure it while you have it.
The second: this is also the best window you’ll get to build a career and set yourself up to make the impact you want to make. That has a deadline too.
With those three tools, I think we can finally straddle the two in a way we couldn’t before. But there’s no roadmap for it. There’s no model. So I’m writing down the one I’ve been building for myself.
So what’s next:
Monday jobs emails will continue for now. I may weave open roles into other emails later.
I’ll start a new Thursday send, where I cover one of those three tools I’ve been using (remote work, portfolio career, AI) to build a career that fits around my family.
And this newsletter will keep evolving into the best one out there for ambitious people with a family who want exactly that.
Next Thursday: my AI-meal planning system.
I hate finishing all my pick-ups, pushing the stroller home, and having no answer to the dreaded question: “what’s for dinner?” Literally, the worst.
This AI-meal planning system rocks:
It reads my calendar and makes me look ahead, so I can see around corners and plan properly.
It frees up the family time. I’m not standing there thinking about what we need to make. We just sit down and eat together.
You can build it around your own patterns, not mine. Copy my stack or swap in your own.
So many of you have followed me through every iteration of this newsletter (even back when it was just a personal one)! I really appreciate it.
I hope you stick around for this next part.
Thanks for being here.
Chris
