The Connection Newsletter - Vacay

Hi there!

This week I’m on holiday with my family, so

The Connection is on a break as well :)

With that said -- and since this is related to family -- I wanted to ask:

This article has been out for a couple weeks now, but I’m curious what productivity apps you use in your household? We’ve been using Google Calendar, Docs, and Sheets for years now, but over the last year have added more to our “home stack.”

Since we both work from home, Slack has replaced text messaging for my wife and I, Monday through Friday. For keeping track of house and property tasks and projects, I use Trello. And we use AnyList tied to the Alexa Skill for groceries shopping.

I can see someone making the argument that using a suite of productivity apps to organize your home life is taking productivity too far, and leaves life feeling too structured. But I think Jocko Willink put it best:

“Discipline is freedom.”

The structure during the workweek allows us to accomplish as much as possible, so we can have unstructured time during the weekends and focus on our family. (h/t Steven Alexander Young for the nudge on this article)

What productivity apps do you use in your home?

Hope you have a great week.
