🧰 The AI Toolbox For Finding Jobs (That You Won't Find On LinkedIn)

Plus: Open roles at companies like Evernote, Customer.io, Linktree, Ollie, Gitlab, Altery, Gainsight, and more

Hello there 😎

I love my job.

I build and lead education at companies like The Rundown AI and Clay.

What this means for you:

I see all the latest tips, tools, and tricks when it comes to AI. But no one talks about how to apply this to the job search.

So I get to do that for you here in the Remote Life OS, every week 😎

Hi, I'm that guy (@christopherming on LinkedIn) that you probably found talking about how to use AI to land your next job.

Today I'm talking about how to use AI to find jobs that haven't been posted anywhere yet, giving you a massive head start over everyone else scrolling through LinkedIn.

Let's do this.

Here's what you'll learn today:

  • 5 AI tools that surface jobs before they're posted publicly

  • A 30-minute daily routine that finds 5+ new target companies weekly

  • Which industries and roles work best with AI-driven job hunting

…and more!

But first, let's look at some open roles I'm excited about.

πŸ’Ž 10+ High-Impact Remote Roles

🚨 Just added! These remote roles were hand-picked yesterday at 10:01 AM EST. Get your application in early to stand out from the crowd.

⚑ If you're sending out resumes and hearing nothing back, there's probably a reason why.

And you can fix it.

I've been quietly helping people rewrite their job search materials, and the results have been nuts. Like Josh, a product director:

❝

Chris helped me reframe my experience to make my resume and LinkedIn profile more engaging and focused. Now I'm in process with four different companies!

Josh C.

Or Mary, a general counsel:

❝

Chris gave me something I didn't even know I'd been looking for; a new perspective on my career that completely changed how I market myself but also how I think about who I am and what I bring to the table.

🎯 The Hidden Job Market Is Real (And AI Can Help You Find It)

People think the job market is what they hear on the news. Or whatever postings they come across as a doom scroll on LinkedIn.

But that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

So many open roles never get posted publicly. Companies fill these roles through internal referrals, quiet outreach, and network connections.

You can use AI to land one of these roles, but you have to understand how the game of using AI for job searching works.

There are three parts:

  1. Finding relevant jobs you should apply to

  2. Finding relevant people you should connect with

  3. Demonstrating your impact on specific problems in interviews

Today, we're focusing on Part 1: Finding relevant jobs you should apply to.

(ICYMI, we covered a lot on people and interviews in the past few issues.)

😯 It’s 2025… There's No Reason To Play The Job Board Lottery Anymore

E.g., apply to 50 jobs, hear back from 2, get ghosted by the rest.

There's a better way. These AI tools help you find opportunities before they're posted and target companies that actually need what you do. Here are the 5 you should pay attention to:

πŸ“Š1/ Teal and the ATS Score Optimization Workflow

Teal can do a bunch of things: organize your applications, save job searches, etc.

But the best feature? It shows you exactly how to beat ATS systems with it’s Match score.

Here’s the 5-Step Teal workflow I recommend to clients (that you can steal):

  1. Upload your current resume to get your baseline score (mine started at 24%)

  2. Add three target job descriptions you'd actually want

  3. Run the analysis and identify missing keywords that matter

  4. Use Claude to rewrite your bullets, incorporating Teal's suggestions naturally

  5. Re-upload and measure improvement (I went from 24% to 67% match score)

πŸ‘‰ The prompt that works:

"Help me rewrite these resume bullets to include [specific keywords from Teal analysis] while keeping my conversational tone. Focus on the format: Impact + What you did + How you did it."

πŸ”¨ Pro tip:

Create role-specific versions. A Growth PM role focusing on acquisition needs different keywords than one focusing on retention. That extra 10 minutes of customization can bump your score by another 15-20%.

The weekly pricing ($9/week) means you only pay when actively job searching. Much smarter than annual subscriptions for tools you won't use year-round.

🎯 2/ Jobright: The Background Job Hunter

While you're sleeping, Jobright is scanning job postings and surfacing high-match opportunities you'd never find manually.

Here’s the system:

Set up your profile once with detailed preferences, then let it work.

The AI learns your preferences and gets better over time. Instead of checking job boards daily, you get a curated list of roles that actually match your skills.

Specific workflow:

  1. Complete onboarding (doing it right takes 10 minutes but improves matching)

  2. Set specific filters: remote vs. hybrid, company size, tech stack requirements

  3. Review daily matches and mark jobs as "interested" or "not interested"

  4. The AI learns your patterns and improves recommendations

Jobright also has an AI copilot, application auto-fill, a built-in resume grader and a LinkedIn connection tool that helps you find warm introductions (from my personal experience, that feature is still hit-or-miss).

πŸ” 3/ Clay + HG Insights: The Tech Stack Sniper

If you are an expert in a specific tech stack, this workflow helps you get surgical.

Instead of generic applications, use Clay and the HG Insights enrichment to target companies that use that exact tech stack.

πŸ‘‰ Here’s the workflow:

  1. Start with your expertise: What specific tools/platforms are you genuinely skilled in?

  2. Use HG Insights in Clay to find companies actively using those technologies

  3. Export to a targeted list of companies that need your exact skills

  4. Find people who work at those companies

  5. Get in touch with those people

✍️ Here’s the script I’d use:

β€œHi Sally, nice to connect. Congrats on the recent raise. I saw Acme built their site on Contentful, I’ve been using the platform for 10 years. Here’s a quick change you can make on your demo page that should improve your conversions…”

Real examples that work:

πŸ‘‰ Scala Engineer? Look for: "companies using Scala in their backend stack + raised funding in the last 12 months"

πŸ‘‰ Contentful Expert? Look for: "companies using Contentful + hiring for marketing roles"

πŸ‘‰ Thinkific Specialist? Look for: "education companies using Thinkific + expanding course offerings"

If you message a company already using the exact tools you're an expert in, you're not just another applicant.

You're someone who can contribute from day one.

πŸ€– 4/ ChatGPT 5: Your Job Search Meta Prompter

Don't use ChatGPT to write your resume.

Use it to craft better prompts that you feed into all your tools.

πŸ‘‰ Example Meta Prompt for research:

"Write me a prompt to research [Company Name]'s recent challenges in [your expertise area]. I want to understand what problems they're facing that someone with my background could solve."

πŸ‘‰ Example Meta prompt for resume improvement:

"Write me a prompt to first help me analyze my resume based on this job description: [Insert job description].

First I want you to analyze my resume and tell me what is strong and what can be improved.

Once I've acknowledged your feedback, we can move into the second step, which will be actually making edits to the resume.”

πŸ”¨ Pro tip:

Use ChatGPT for research and brainstorming, then switch to Claude for anything customer-facing like emails or cover letters. ChatGPT thinks good thoughts; Claude writes good words.

πŸ› οΈ 5/ Lovable: The Show-Your-Work Builder

Stop telling companies what you can do. Show them.

This used to be a Hail Mary play; it was something you did when you had everything else (your LinkedIn, your resume, your cover letter, etc.) locked in.

That's because it took so much time.

In my opinion, you would have been better off focusing on inside-track networking or improving your match score.

But now with Lovable, you can build projects that demonstrate your skills specific to companies you're targeting in a weekend.

Specific examples:

  • Pinterest candidate? Built a Pinterest board showing why she was perfect for Pinterest's culture and role

  • Amazon applicant? Created an Amazon product page explaining why they'd be a great Amazon PM

  • Developer targeting fintech? Built a mini expense tracking app using the same tech stack as the target company

The Lovable workflow:

  1. Research your target company's recent product launches or challenges

  2. Identify a small problem you could solve or improve

  3. Build a focused demo that shows your thinking process

  4. Document your approach so they see how you work

Key insight: These projects become conversation starters in interviews and proof that you don't just talk. You build.

The goal isn't to solve their entire business. It's to show you understand their world and can think strategically about their challenges.

πŸ”¨ Pro tip:

Use screenshots from the company’s product or marketing page. Tell lovable to copy that. That'll make anything that you create on brand.

πŸ“… Here’s How I’d Put This Tech Stack To Work (in 30 Minutes Per Day)

Monday (Strategic Planning):

  • Use HG Insights in Clay to identify five new companies using your tech stack

  • Filter by growth signals: recent funding, leadership changes, expansion news

  • Look for momentum, not just industry fit

Tuesday-Thursday (Targeted Outreach):

  • 30 minutes updating your Teal scores and Jobright preferences

  • Use Clay to find decision makers at target companies (skip recruiters when possible)

  • Send 2-3 personalized messages referencing their specific tech stack needs

Friday (Review & Optimize):

  • Track response rates and what's working

  • Refine your target criteria based on actual results

  • Set up Google Alerts for news about your target companies

Consistency beats intensity. Thirty minutes daily compounds into major opportunities, and fits into your schedule better than a 3-hour weekend binge.

πŸ’« Bottom Line

AI can help you uncover jobs in the hidden job market.

The best way to take action:

  • Pick one tool.

  • Build the habit.

  • Get comfortable with the process.

  • Then expand.

Don't try to use all these tools at once!

My recommendation: start with Teal to understand how your resume performs against real job requirements, then go from there.

While everyone else is refreshing Indeed, you'll be having conversations with hiring managers about roles that don't exist yet.

Good luck. And let me know how it goes.

P.S. I love meeting new people. Make sure to say β€œhi” on LinkedIn πŸ‘‹
